In June 2021, Katjes International subsidiary Sperlari acquired a majority stake of 75% in the Piedmontese chocolate manufacturer Dulcioliva. The remaining shares are held by the founder's grandson, Luigi Oliva, who was the largest single shareholder prior to the transaction.

The company was founded in 1924 in the province of Cuneo. The original recipe was for a delicate praline covered in dark chocolate with a soft filling called "borghigiano", which quickly became a very successful product. Over the years, the original recipe has been continuously improved. Rum was added to the pralines in order to prolong their shelf life without using preservatives, thus laying the foundation for Cuneesi's confectionery.

In 1940, the Oliva family modernised their laboratories and expanded the distribution of their products throughout Italy. Today, Dulcioliva produces a range of chocolate specialities such as gianduotti, truffles and other pralines, and is the market leader for traditional Piedmontese cuneesi pralines.
